Novi Woods is a very generous learning community. With support from our PTO, two students from each homeroom help facilitate, advertise, and communicate the community service opportunities for our building. In the past we have supported local, regional, state, national, and even international charities.
Students meet in small, multi-aged "Dens" every other week to focus on learning the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. Novi Woods is building a learning community during our Den meetings. The goal is for all students to be able to apply the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in our school, our classrooms, and our lives.
Students in the spring and fall engage in environmental and ecological work in and around our school grounds. They also partner with local organizations to improve our school. Be sure to visit our butterfly garden on the north side of our building to see just one of our projects.
With support of the Novi Educational Foundation, Novi Woods has partnered with Playworks to help kids to stay active and build valuable life skills through play. Each year Novi Woods recruits 6th grade Jr. Coaches from our neighboring school, Novi Meadows, to help facilitate safe and inclusive play and games during our lunch recesses.
The ROAR team is a student leadership committee. Students are selected through an application process. They meet to organize March is Reading Month, Volunteer Appreciation, and other school-wide projects.
Safeties are 4th grade leaders that are chosen through an application process. They help ensure the safety of our students before an after school. Each Safety is assigned a certain post around the school and help with arrival and/ or dismissal. They are students that demonstrate leadership qualities all day long.
