Megan Haapala
Dean of Students, Novi Woods Elementary School
Megan joined NCSD in 2017. Previously, she taught in multiple school districts, both in and out of state. She has been an elementary classroom teacher, a K-4 ELD teacher, and a Success Coach before moving into her current role of Elementary Dean. She loves building relationships with staff, students, and their families and cannot wait to continue supporting the Novi Woods community. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time outside and visiting local parks with her family.
“I am thrilled to continue supporting the Novi Woods community in my new role as Dean," Megan said. "I look forward to welcoming everyone back in August!”
The Novi Rotary is proud to once again provide lunches for children in the Novi community who face challenges accessing consistent meals during the summer months.
Formerly known as Feed the Need, the program has been renamed Novi Rotary Cares, reflecting a continued commitment to supporting families and nurturing the community.
Novi Rotary Cares will provide bagged lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. four days a week (Monday-Thursday) at Village Oaks Elementary, starting June 9, 2025. The program runs through August 7, 2025 and is free to students in need up to the age of 17. For more information, email novirotarycares@gmail.com. Bagged lunches will also be at satellite locations – Highland Hills Estates, Novi Meadows Homes, Old Dutch Farms, Oakland Glens, and Pavilion Court Apartments.

The MI HEARTSafe Schools Award Program was developed to help schools prepare for a cardiac emergency. We have created Medical Emergency Response Teams and Cardiac Emergency Response teams in each building.
We have CPR/AED certified personnel on staff in our district and a large amount of readily available AEDs in all of our buildings.
We run AED drills yearly to promote early response times and have taken many steps to ensure we are prepared for any medical emergency in our buildings.
For the first time, all 10 of our buildings have been recognized as being MI HeartSafe buildings. It is an honor and privilege to be awarded this for all of our buildings. It recognizes how our staff, students and families go above and beyond to ensure our students, our community and schools are safe. There is a lot of time that goes into preparing these teams and we couldn’t do it without the support of our Cabinet, Administration team and School board for promoting the health and well being of our school community.
